Rik is a UK based artist from Ipswich that produces various forms of art and styles. These include, drawings, water colour and encaustic art works.
Specialising in pet and animal portraits and also life drawings are his main interests and the incredible tones, shapes and detail that live studies provide as a muse to inspire the images and thought process that goes into them. This was a love affair with drawing that has now spanned 20 years and still remains one of his favourite forms of creativity.
In recent years he has produced many pieces of encaustic art. This is a form of painting using melted, coloured bees wax and was apparently first practised over 2000 years ago by the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. The melted wax is applied using a specialist heating iron, stylus pen and other various heating tools. This form of art creates very vivid, bright images and often has a 3D effect to them due to the depth of the waxes used which can not always be appreciated via photos.
